This weekend, friend Janet and I went to a catshow in Norwich, Connecticut. There were 200 of the most gorgeous cats and kittens there....along with Beigatti Lake Superior Sand...the cream boy from our latest litter.
"Muscat," as he is now called, was a little terror in the hotel. He got in the room and immediately started to chase his sisters: growling, jumping, attacking, pouncing, and generally just annoying them. They in turn, gave it right back to their brother. Unfortunately, the humans in the room got very little sleep.
The next day in the showhall, Muscat, looking beautiful in his showbath, went from ring to ring, talking the entire way. He told every judge what he thought, but more importantly, he was very relaxed...as Janet walked through the crowded showhall with him on her arm...he was grooming himself...unconcerned with the loudspeakers, the other cats and all of the commotion. Not bad for a 4-month old kitten!

First of all, Tasha is getting bigger every day. We are very happy about it, but I am worried about the number of kittens she is carrying! Today is day 52...less than 2 weeks to go!
Tasha showing off her "baby bump"...she clearly has a belly full!
Last weekend, I took Olive to a show in Ansonia, CT - near New Haven. The showhall was hot hot hot! By mid-afternoon on Saturday, I had bags of ice around her and a fan blowing on her. It amazed me that she was not cranky, irritable or hissy in the heat, but her sweet, lovable self. I was the cranky, irritable one.
Olive enjoyikng the cat show
We shared a hotel room with my friend Mary and 4 of her cats. Here is a picture of all of the cats eating dinner after the show on Saturday night. Just to show how laid back these cats are, Olive just met the other four that night and within an hour they were eating together.
The food that the other cat has always looks better.
Life is good. Here's hoping for healthy babies!

Tomorrow I am driving down to the Bethlehem, PA area to go to a cat show put on by the Christmas City Cat Club. That means that tonight I am bathing and grooming Olive, packing my bags, and packing the car.
Olive is really the sweetest girl, but she has a mind of her own. This cat LOVES water. Every morning, Chris fills the bathroom sink with water as he prepares to shave. Olive comes running, as she sees this opportunity to splash and play. After she has soaked the bathroom counter, the morror, the cupboards and herself, Chris gently lifts her out of the sink and dries her little paws.
If you happen to be in the Bethlehem area this weekend, stop by and say "hi!"

I just added a link on my "Links" page to the Maine Coon Seminar created by TICA judge Beth Hicks. This shows the standard and what judges look for in the breed. I love this...it shows what we all strive for.
I also added some photos taken of Olive this weekend to the photo gallery...getting ready for the show. Remind me to clean my house next time someone takes pictures!!

This weekend, my friend Janet and I drive to Providence, RI to go to a cat show. Olive was going to her second kitten show...there hasn't been a show in my neck of the woods for a while, so I brushed her, bathed her and drove to Providence with her.
When we got to the hotel room, she walked out like she owned the place. No fear, no shyness, she ate a good dinner, then fell asleep on the bed for the night. (It should be noted that friend Janet got to enjoy Olive all night, as Olive slept with her and dissed me.)
The next day we drove to the Rhode Island Convention Center and set up for the show. Competition was tough, and Olive only got a few points, but we enjoyed ourseves. Unfortunately, there was a minor family emergency, and I had to drive home Saturday night...missing the entire day on Sunday. ![]()
Janet took a number of pictures of Olive, and I will post them as soon as I get them. In the meantime, here's little Olive:

Today we are taking a road trip to visit our dear friends Howard and Lynn of Howlyncats. Next weekend they will be taking two of our cats, Tasha and Olive, to a cat show sponsored by the Central Jersey Cat Fanciers. We will be out of town, visiting daughter Erin and son-in-law Eric in Huntsville, AL.
Tasha will be shown in Championship class. We hope she will achieve enough points to become a grand champion because she is ready to be bred, and once we do that, her show carreer will basically be over.
Little Olive will be shown in kitten class. She is just four months old, and she is just old enough to be shown. Her biggest competition will come from her litter-mate brother. When kittens are this tiny, we just hope they enjoy the show and aren't worried about the strange people and noises.
Please stop by to see Howard and Lynn next weekend!

On November 25, we went to the Westchester Cat Show in White Plains, NY. While there, we ran into Teri Matzkin of Sarajen Maine Coons. She had with her a beautiful black Maine Coon kitten: great profile, good chin and a real motor going. The kitten came home with us and is the lastest addition to our family. Please welcome Sarajen Dolcetta Nera of Beigatti:
